Founded by Jan Soudijn and Marty O’Brien.
The company moves to a larger sales office located off of Manatee Avenue and remained there for more than 26 years.
Marc, son of Jan, would remain an integral part of the company for almost three decades until his passing.
In addition to trading by-products, the company begins to develop flavors. It finds its first flavor customer in Liko.
Arthur Soudijn, Jan’s son, joins the Florida Worldwide Citrus team supporting the sales operations.
The company begins to expand by offering other citrus ingredients such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, and tangerine.
As the company becomes vertically integrated it moves its operations to a larger facility to accommodate more value-added production technologies.
The Soudijn family mourns the loss of a son, father, brother, and friend. After Marc’s passing, his brother, Arthur, takes over leadership of the company.
Florida Worldwide builds its fully operational laboratory for enhanced quality control, R&D, and flavor design.
The company invests in 2 vacuum distillation columns utilized for internal ingredient production and expansion of its specialty product portfolio.
To honor Marc’s legacy, the Marc Neil Soudijn Research Foundation is established to support innovation in our industry. The foundation has pledged support to citrus research at the University of Florida.
Florida Worldwide is certified organic.
Matthew Soudijn, son of Marc Soudijn and Arthur’s nephew, joins the team overseeing our Product Development & Regulatory. Our company is now being served by 3 generations of the Soudijn family.
Florida Worldwide receives the SQF certification as part of the GFSI global food safety standard.
With the expansion of global marketing development, the company evaluates its vision and mission for the years to come and begins a new transition of updated company identity and strategy.
